Watch "Friday Night Lights" (the TV show) on NBC Fridays 9/8c

Wow it's been awhile since I've even signed on to this thing. Did anyone else get an email that said "Xanga misses you!" You are so sweet, Xanga.

Hellooo, is anyone else on here? Well anyways, I decided to sign into to my old friend Xanga today, and I can barely recognize this site now. So I thought I'd just write an entry to say that.

Also, for all you Facebook users, did you know you can link your Xanga onto your Facebook? In fact, some of you may just be reading this on Facebook right now. Crazy.

Anyways... on to more important topics. Save FNL! If you dont know what I'm talking about, FNL is the TV series Friday Night Lights.

This is probably one of my favorite shows right now, and it's been critically acclaimed since it started last year. Most people who watch this show will agree with me, but the problem is, not that many people watch!

I personally think NBC did a poor job in advertising/marketing this show, but I think they are pretty dedicated to trying to keep it alive especially because it has such a loyal fan base. But in the end, I think no ratings equal no future.

And as some TV seasons are winding down, you may be looking for a new TV DVD series to watch.

Here are some reasons to watch:

  1. The acting and writing is great
  2. Plotlines and storylines are RIVETING
  3. The music/soundtrack is REALLY good
  4. It involves football, BUT...
  5. You DON'T have to like football to watch this show. The sport is only a vehicle in which other relationships and plotlines can revolve around
  6. For all you ladies, I actually think this is kind of a "girly" show with all the relationship plotlines...
  7. We can become best friends and have lots of great conversations and discussions about how Lyla Garrity and Tim Riggins are sooo wrong for each other. HA!

The show is in it's 2nd season right now and airs Fridays on NBC at 9/8pm central (horrible time slot so set your Tivos). But I think the season is winding down already, so go out and rent seasons 1 and 2!

Rumor has it, the 3rd season will get picked up, but I don't think it's official yet, so go out there and help SAVE FNL!

If you are a fan of the NFL, you've no doubt seen the Nike Football commercial starring Shawne Merriman and Steven Jackson. I love this commercial. I think since I first saw it, I've watched it an average of 5 times a day on YouTube.

It was directed by Michael Mann who has directed such memorable films as "Heat" and "The Last of the Mohicans." In the commercial, he takes the final emotional action scene "The Last of the Mohicans" as the inspiration and uses the same music (which totally pumps me up when I listen to it at work).

Anyways, here it is... turn up your speakers for heart pumping emotional soundtrack... haha...

and to fully appreciate it, here is the scene from "The Last of the Mohicans" in which it was inspired from. it's a bit long, but it's a great scene...

Ok, that's enough video fun for the day.

As for the rest of my life, here's a few notes in case you are interested:

- this week was super busy and tiring at work because we've had a conference all week. but it was fun seeing and meeting new people at our company from around the world. now it's time to sleep... and play...

- it rained today! worst timing ever. is summer already over? i spent a good portion of it attending weddings. but congrats to all that tied the knot and it was great seeing people i haven't see in awhile.

- GRX basketball is starting open gyms on Sunday starting THIS SUNDAY, 9/23. Campbell Community Center. Address below, come one, come all. Starts at 7:30pm and cost is $5. Anyone interested in being a captain for the league next spring???? All that is really required is a desire to serve God and people.

1 West Campbell Ave, Campbell, CA 95

Time for some sleep... I LOVE SLEEP

True Warrior

Sorry non-basketball fans, but I need to make one more Warriors post.

This post is dedicated to a True Warrior (not Ron Artest), Jason Richardson #23.

Today was the nba draft and we traded away Jason Richardson and our 2nd round pick for the rights to the Bobcats for the rights to UNC's Brandan Wright.

But regardless of who we got in return, I feel really sad to see J-Rich go. I actually like Brandan Wright a lot, and this could turn out to be really good for us. But at the same time, I don't think I've been this sad about ANY sports transaction EVER. It's not so much the fact that he was a great player, but more so it's the KIND of player J-Rich is/was that makes this loss tough.

For those of you that aren't long time loyal fans, let me list out some reasons why the Bay Area loves JRich:

- He came into the league as one of the most athletic, exciting, players in the NBA that gave Warriors fans something to cheer for even though our team was horrible for years. He's the only back-to-back slam dunk champion since Michael Jordan.

- Even though he was a gifted athlete, he worked hard every summer to improve a part of his game. First it was his jumpshot (they said he had none), then it was his dribbling, and this last season he said he wanted to improve his passing. He's one of only five players in the history of the NBA to improve his scoring average four years in a row.

- For six long years he was pretty much the one star player on a bad team. He never complained, and never demanded to be traded. He just worked hard and remained loyal to the Warriors organization. After the 2005/2006 season in which the Warriors missed the playoffs again, he personally took out a chunk of his own money to print a full page add in the newspapers apologizing to fans and committing to make the 2006/2007 season one we could be proud of (and we all know what happened this last season ).

Anyways, the list goes on, but pretty much, JRich was the heart and soul of our team. He was a core member of a team had had great chemistry. His teammates loved him. The fans loved him. He stuck with us through thick and thin, and he will be missed.

Brandan Wright is a top prospect and could be an eventual star. Or maybe we could even trade for Kevin Garnett or China man Yi Jianling. So all in all, the Warriors might end up being ok.

Nonetheless, I've been reading Warriors fan blogs and watching youtube clips of JRich all night, and I'm kind of depressed (am I pathetic?).

So through all the years JRich suffered being a good player on a bad team, I'm glad he was able to be a part of this historic 06/07 season. The loyalty, hard work, and heart he brought to his organization and team reminds of a this verse...

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."  - Galations 6:9

I saw this video up on www.goldenstateofmind.com

and this was up on the Charlotte Bobcats homepage... enjoy Charlotte fans...

Good luck JRich! I hope you tear up that Eastern Conference!

on a lighter Warriors note, check it out! Adonal finally made it! hahahahaha....

It was a good run...

It took me about an hour to get the anger/depression/sadness out of my system, but now I can say that it was a great season...

ThankYouIntro800

And after all the ugly technical and flagrant fouls, I'm glad the guys showed a lot of class in the defeat by congratulating the Jazz and applauding the Utah fans...

On a more personal note, I think this might be the last season I'll work up there at Oracle Arena... I'll have to think about it in the offseason... haha.

(EDIT: reason being because it's not my real full time job, and it's just a lot of trouble to go all the way up to work MORE after already working at my full-time job... but who know?! i love the warriors...)

here are some pics i was able to take...

and this one is my new wallpaper... right click + save... you're welcome

Anyways, I really like watching this team play together is because it seems like they are all good friends and have a real bond. I remember hearing Stephen Jackson say in an interview that he doesn't want to lose this series because then he won't get to play with his teammates anymore.

I think that's why team sports are so appealing sometimes. When you can find a group of guys/girls that you love to compete with, it creates a real bond. And if you are having fun, no matter how serious the games get, even in defeat, I think at the end of the day you will be able to see even your opponents as brothers (or sisters).

"If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." - Romans 12:18
